AD Bloodstock Makes Its Mark Across the Breeding Stock Sales Series
AD Bloodstock has wrapped up a successful run through the 2026 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale, securing five purchases across both sales on behalf of valued clients.
Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale — A Pair of Commercial Mares for a Tasmanian Breeder
Acting on behalf of a private Tasmanian based breeding client, AD Bloodstock targeted pregnant mares with commercial appeal for both the Tasmanian and Melbourne Premier yearling markets — and delivered exactly that.
Lot 625 — Perfect Pleasure (Pierro), in foal to Trapeze Artist — $50,000
Vendor: Widden Stud

A daughter of champion sire and now emerging Broodmare Sire Pierro, Perfect Pleasure was secured for $50,000 and represents outstanding value for a mare with a 100% winning strike rate from her named foals. All three of her named produce are winners — a remarkable record — including city winner and Listed placer Pleasure Artist, who ran second in the ATC Dulcify Stakes (Listed) as a 3yo. Her current pregnancy is again to Group 1 producing sire Trapeze Artist — the same sire responsible for her entire produce to date, reflecting a clear and deliberate mating strategy that has consistently produced results. While this season alone, Trapeze Artist has produced Group 1 Oaks Winner in Panova, and further Stakes Winners Pinito, Piggyback, Disneck, Chilly Girl, Where's The Circus and Spicy Miss.
Furthermore, Perfect Pleasure herself is a half-sister to two Stakes Winners in Torio's Quest and Bippo No Bungus, as well as the dam of another Stakes Winner by Trapeze Artist in Flying Bandit, while the dam line shows further genuine depth of quality tracing closely back to Sandy's Pleasure (G1 VRC Oaks winner).
Lastly, Damsire Pierro is quickly starting to make a name for himself as a Broodmare sire on the rise having produced the Dams of Group 1 winners Jacquinot (Rubick) along with siblings Femminile (Dundeel) and recent QLD Oaks winner Fireball Miss (Bivouac). He has also produced the dam of another Stakes Winner by Trapeze Artist in Facile and further Group winners Blue Door (Stay Inside) and Just Feelin' Lucky (Justify)
Lot 723 — Archangel (Lonhro), in foal to St Mark's Basilica — $45,000
Vendor: Coolmore Stud

A daughter of the great Lonhro, Archangel was ADB's second purchase at the Magic Millions National Sale and having been secured for just $45,000 carrying an early September cover to St Mark's Basilica — one of the most exciting young sires in the world right now — she too presented fantastic value. Both of her named foals to race are winners, and her family is exceptional with her dam Angelic Smile having produced Fravashi (G2 QTC Sires' Produce S., G2 MRC D'Urban S.) and Pure Joy (G3 VRC Vanity S.) - herself a producer of multiple Stakes Performers, while the extended family has produced current star Stretan Angel (by Harry Angel) — winner of the G2 VRC Danehill Stakes and placed at G1 level twice in 2025-26 who subsequently sold at the same sale as this mare for $1,600,000 — and current season 2yo talent in Stretan Ruler (by Wild Ruler), who won the G2 ATC Silver Slipper Stakes over the 2026 Autumn. A compelling pedigree at a remarkable price.
Damsire Lonhro himself has also proven his worth at the top end of the Broodmare Sire tables having produced the dams of Group 1 stars in Jigsaw, Observer, Return To Conquer, Golden Mile and Zapateo.
While covering sire St Marks Basilica himself has made a stunning start at stud on both sides of the world, with his Northern Hemisphere progeny headlined by recently undefeated G1 French Oaks winner Diamond Necklace, while his Southern Hemisphere crop has already produced stakes winner and star Tasmanian 2yo Aristopolos (TRC Elwick Stakes, Listed) as well as Stakes Placed West Coast.
And adding further confidence to the purchase, Archangel is carrying a full relation to her fourth foal who sold for $165,000 at the 2026 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale — a strong vote of market confidence in the family.
Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale — Three Weanlings for Sando Racing
AD Bloodstock also had a strong finish to the sale season at the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale, purchasing three weanlings on behalf of wonderful supporters in Sando Racing with a clear pinhook focus on two of the three.
Lot 29 — St Mark's Basilica x Jamita (Fastnet Rock), Filly — $150,000
Vendor: Supreme Thoroughbreds | Purchased in partnership with Sheamus Mills Bloodstock

The pick of the filly purchases and a personal favourite from the entire sale, this daughter of St Mark's Basilica was secured for $150,000 in partnership with leading agent Sheamus Mills. St Mark's Basilica — the 2021 G1 Prix du Jockey Club winner — as mentioned above, has made a terrific start to his career at stud, headlined by his as yet undefeated multiple Group 1 winning 3yo filly Diamond Necklace, who carries a highly rated similar cross to this filly, while his first Southern Hemisphere crop has already produced stakes winner Aristopolos (TRC Elwick Stakes, Listed) and Stakes Placed West Coast. The filly's dam Jamita is an unraced daughter of Champion Broodmare Sire Fastnet Rock and a full sister to Hvasstan (G3 MRC Norman Robinson S., placed G1 Victoria Derby and G1 Australian Guineas) who has already produced a winner in half-million dollar earner Captain Furai while the yearling full brother to this filly realised $240,000 in the Inglis Easter sale ring earlier this year. A gorgeous filly ticked every box on type, pedigree and scope, she is bound for a pinhook campaign into 2027.

Lot 324 — Profondo x Bad Habits (Power), Colt — $90,000
Vendor: Stonehouse Thoroughbreds | Purchased in partnership with Ashley Glencross, GlenX Bloodstock

The only Profondo weanling offered at the Inglis Great Southern Sale, this colt was secured for $90,000 in partnership with Ashley Glencross of GlenX Bloodstock. Profondo — a G1 ATC Spring Champion Stakes winner — had a stellar 2026 yearling sales season with his first crop progeny selling for up to $425,000. The colt's dam Bad Habits is an unraced daughter of Power (GB) and a full-sister to Lady Maroal (Listed AuRC Champagne Stakes) as well as the Stakes Performed dam of G1 winner Ruthless Dame (G1 SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes) and this season's Stakes Winning 2yo Torture (L. MRC Debutant Stakes). Furthermore, a full sister to this colt also sold for $150,000 at the 2026 New Zealand Karaka Yearling Sale — a result that gave significant confidence heading into the bidding. Another earmarked by the team to be pinhooked into the 2027 yearling sales.
Lot 346 — Diatonic x Call Me Royal (Sebring), Colt — $55,000
Vendor: Rosemont Stud

Purchased outright for Sando Racing and most likely to be retained to race, this compact, well-balanced son of Japanese sire Diatonic was one of the standout individuals in the sale for AD Bloodstock. Bred & raised by one of Victoria's premier nurseries in Rosemont Stud, the colt is only the third foal out of Call Me Royal (by Sebring) — a Sydney city winner and Listed-placed mare who ran third in the TRC Elwick Stakes — and whose first two foals are by proven sire Shamus Award, with her oldest only being 2yo and in the stables of top trainer Phillip Stokes. The dam line traces to Chalee, a multiple Listed winner, adding further substance to a pedigree that pairs Japanese speed with proven Southern Hemisphere class. A neatly put-together, athletic individual who carries a similar cross to 3yo talent in Australia in Group winner Salty Pearl (by Tagaloa), he'll likely be retained in Victoria to chase the rich Vobis Bonus series throughout his race career.
A Successful First Year for AD Bloodstock
The recent broodmare and weanling purchases cap a highly encouraging first year for AD Bloodstock, with the business establishing a growing presence across Australia's leading bloodstock sales while assisting clients with yearling, weanling and broodmare acquisitions.
Over the past 12 months, AD Bloodstock has secured stock from the Magic Millions Gold Coast, Adelaide and March Yearling Sales, the Inglis Premier and Great Southern Sales, as well as the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Sale, while continuing to provide clients with bloodstock selection, pedigree analysis, mating plans and commercial breeding advice.
Importantly, the year has also seen the continued progression of horses selected under Ash Dowley's management, with runners from the past three crops currently producing an individual winners-to-runners strike rate exceeding 65%, alongside a growing number of metropolitan and black-type performers.
With a strong foundation now established and an expanding client base across both racing and breeding sectors, AD Bloodstock looks forward to following the progress of its latest purchases and building on the momentum throughout the 2026/27 season.
