A productive week has just come to conclusion at the 2026 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale at Oaklands, where strong demand once again underlined the depth and quality of the Victorian yearling market.
The sale delivered a very solid result across both books, with Book 1 averaging $144,312 as demand remained strong for commercial pedigrees and standout physical types.
Book 2 averaged $45,181 (median $36,250) and continues to present excellent opportunities for buyers prepared to work through the catalogue and identify athletic individuals capable of outperforming their purchase price.
By sticking to strict valuations and buying selectively, I was able to secure three yearlings for private clients and trainer partners for an average of $23,333, well below the Book 2 average and, in my view, representing excellent value. Importantly, all three purchases are VOBIS Silver, Gold and Sires eligible, while also paid up for the Inglis Race Series, giving their owners access to the significant owners’ bonus schemes throughout their racing careers.
The Inglis Premier Sale continues to produce elite performers worldwide. Since 2018 the sale has produced 34 Group 1 winners, including 16 bought for $100,000 or less, while graduates have won 314 stakes races and produced 33 individual $1M earners in Australia alone. Recent graduates also include the last three Everest winners Nature Strip, Think About It and Bella Nipotina, along with Group 1-winning juveniles Vinrock, Nepotism and last week's Blue Diamond winner Streisand.
It’s also been a particularly rewarding sale for horses I’ve been fortunate to be involved in the selection process with over the years, including City & Stakes Performers Pharari, Blue Stratum, Rich Hips, I Am Eloquent, Blushing Tycoon, Chandon Burj, Black Sail, Vreneli and Pascero, among others, and I’m hopeful this year’s purchases can follow a similar path.
Below is a closer look at the three yearlings secured this week.
Lot 649, Bay colt by Bruckner out of Lisa In Green (Equinao)
Vendor: Highpoint Lodge
Purchase Price: $20,000
Trainer: Robbie Griffiths, Cranbourne

This athletic colt is by Group 3 McNeil Stakes winner Bruckner, a high-class son of Champion Sire Snitzel who also finished runner-up in the stallion making Coolmore Stud Stakes (G1) to Home Affairs, defeating the likes of Artorius, Paulele, In The Congo, Sword of State andExtreme Warrior, and represents the powerful Redoute’s Choice / Lonhro sireline that has produced so many elite Australian sprinters.
His dam Lisa In Green is a daughter of the fast European sire Equiano, and the family traces to the Listed-winning juvenile Moshki, whose son Nadal has developed into a high-class metropolitan and Group performer in Sydney and Melbourne. Further back the pedigree includes stakes performers such as Tudor and Emphatically, giving the family solid black-type depth. And Equiano himself is shaping his influence as a broodmare sire in Australia having already produced the dam of another winner of the G3 McNeil Stakes in Tycoon Star while worldwide he is also the Broodmare Sire of Group 1 winner and now stallion at stud Arizona Blaze.
Physically, this colt immediately appealed as a strong, athletic colt with good depth, scope and particularly well balanced frame, and I felt he was an absolute steal and terrific value at the price. Robbie and his team have an excellent record developing these types and I’m looking forward to seeing how he progresses through their system.
Lot 677, Bay Filly by Overshare out of Parchoise (Choisir) LADIES HORSE
Vendor: Highpoint Lodge
Purchase Price: $10,000
Trainer: Brent Stanley, Cloud 9 Thoroughbreds, Bendigo

An impressive physical, this filly is by Group 3 Zeditave Stakes winner Overshare, a son of I Am Invincible who has proven to produce top performers as a sire, highlighted by Group 1 Canterbury Stakes winner Lady Laguna and Group 3 RJ Peters Stakes Winner Storyville, along with a number of consistent metropolitan winners including the likes of Astral Flame, High On Sugar, Over Yonder and Silent Shares.
Her dam Parchoise is by champion sire Choisir, and while mum hasn't had much luck yet with the immediate production record still developing, the deeper female family contains genuine stakes depth through performers such as Group 2 winner Burrito, along with stakes winners Posadas, Collate and Petrol Power. And this is the first time Parchoise has been bred to a son of Champion Sire I Am Invincible, which gives this filly a similar cross as Group 1 winner In Secret and further Stakes Winners I Am Eloquent and Eckstein.
From a physical perspective she was extremely impressive — a strong, mature filly with great depth through the girth, correct conformation and an active, athletic walk. Given the strength of her type and the quality further back in the pedigree, I felt she was well worth taking a chance on at the bargain price of $10,000, and trainer Brent Stanley was equally taken by her on inspection.
Plus, an added bonus is she's going to be registered for the $1,000,000 Inglis Pink Bonus Series which is available to Inglis graduates that have a minimum 75% owned by female owners.
Lot 773, Brown Filly by Bruckner out of Autumn Zest (King's Best)
Vendor: Fliders Park Stud
Purchase Price: $40,000
Trainer: Simon Zahra, Flemington

This gorgeous filly carried a special sense of familiarity for both Simon and myself. At this same sale back in 2019 we selected her half-sister Zesty Belle, and when inspecting this filly we both felt she showed remarkably similar attributes — the same athletic frame, movement and presence, albeit a touch bigger, and a touch stronger at the same stage of life.
She is another by Bruckner, while her dam Autumn Zest has proven a reliable producer with five winners, including the consistent City performer in aforementioned Zesty Belle and Stakes Performer Luen On Eagle, while the second dam Empower was a Listed-winning two-year-old who also placed in the Magic Night Stakes (G2) in Sydney.
In addition to this filly's half-sister, Simon and I have enjoyed terrific success when teaming up together having further secured the likes of City & Stakes Performers Island Joy, Zac De Boss, Fallen Empire and even the bargain buy Squami (20k yearling) and I'm thrilled to partner up again with his team to land this beautiful filly.
With proven production on the page, being by a promising young speed sire, and an athletic, scopey physical type, she was a filly we were very keen to secure and I’m delighted we were able to do so at a fair price.
One of the things I enjoy most about this sale is the opportunity to identify genuine value horses that can outperform their purchase price, something I've been fortunate to experience previously with horses like Abounding, who was sourced from a similar section of the market before going on to earn over $2.7 million on the track.
A huge thank you again must go out to the owners and trainers who placed their trust and support in me this week — it’s always incredibly rewarding to help match the right horses with the right people.
